ワインジャーナリズムを牽引するイギリスのメディア、Decanter/デカンタより、2016年のDecanter World Wine Awards（略してDWWA） 2016発表の記事が、2016年6月16日（木）づけで掲載されました。

この賞、年に一度、デカンタが世界の優良なワインに賞を授与するもので、今年は16000本近くをテイスティング。240人の識者（うち、マスター・オブ・ワインが69人、マスター・ソムリエが26人）により、1週間かけてジャッジ。
今年の特徴としては、クロアチア、スイス、日本、ブラジル、オーストラリア、スペイン、イタリアが健闘をみせたとのこと。
イギリスのワインも同様。すでに定評のあるスパークリングのみならず、スティルも高評価されるものが増加。
